Imacs On Track For August

Posted:
in Future Apple Hardware edited January 2014
Think secret reports imacs on track for august release, set to have aluminium closure and only 2 inches thick, similar components to current MBP, topping out at 2.4GHZ.

Very dissappointed if true on a personal level, was intending to hold out till june initially, july was pushing it but august might just be a lil bit too long.

Specs wise its what is expected really.

just hope with regards the release date, think secret keeps up its rather abysmal track record and is wrong yet again, still holding out hope we will see them late this month.

I know I may just be a cat, but I'm dissapointed as well if this is true.

I need a new iMac for a project, and was holding out for the revision. Like most cats, I'm impatient and want it NOW!!!

    Time to go eat.

wish i had your patience, i really really could do with it being released sometime this month, i also need it for my MSc project, my ibook can still handle lit review/design as its mostly simple word processing stuff but the development is due to start mid july, and will include some photoshop stuff, so really really could do with it being released this month, think august could be a lil bitt too far

I have 35 shares of APPL that's ready to be sold to buy my new iMac. Nothing like getting Apple to buy your computer

Keep the shares... they'll go up in value. Computer values drop like a stone the day after you buy them.

I know this may sound blasphemous but the iMac right now is a weak link in Apple's lineup and it's the center of where Steve Jobs is continually making gaffes.

The range that the iMac lives in within computerdom demands more than laptop internals IMO. If I want Santa Rosa then I want a MacBook Pro.

If I want to spend $1500 then I don't want a laptop I want a desktop chipset with a Conroe processor.

Apple could assuage my angst by simply delivering a Mac Pro at $1499 sans monitor.

We don't know the pricing right now but a 20" monitor is now $269 I don't think a 20" iMac should be more than $999

Steve is in luv with the iPhone right now... unfortunately, Apple seems to lunge and lurch at whatever fits Steve's whim and right now Steve's whim is nowhere near the iMac.

Let me tell you a little something. Not only does Apple not give any news to the Apple Specialists and Authorized Retailers, they don't even give news to their own damned stores. I would risk a guess that the only people that really know what is coming and when are the people sitting around the Apple board table.

MacRumors, Think Secret, and all those other places are making shit up to garner attention. Don't pay them any mind, they don't actually know a damned thing. And I highly doubt anyone in Apple (who is lucky enough to know) will leak it, since those that know are likely high-up and have great salaries, and would never give away such secrets, as they would face dismissal and Apple's litigious wrath.

Speculation is one thing. Saying, essentially, that "So-and-so said new iMacs with aluminum cases and quad cores and cupholders are coming, so there's a good chance it's true" is another thing.

We'll know when we know. Buy or wait. Speculate if you wish, but don't post unsubstantiated bull.

    Cup-holders!!! Who told you?

PS, I thought TS said they were coming out at WWDC?

T.S. doesn't stand for Think Secret, it stands for Talk Shit, cause that's all they do. And then eventually when they are right--which sooner or later you have to be if you keep on predicting the same thing and keep changing the date--you hear them say 'you heard it here first', and they get all the traffic and praise. Give me a break, talk shit somewhere else.

    I still say July 27.

That is my hope too. I need to buy on Aug 4th. Tax free weekend.

My fear is they will use the tax free holiday to clear out stock. Then announce the new iMac the following Tuesday.

Yeah... here in Iowa the tax free stuff only covers items <$100 so I decided not to wait for that since it wouldn't do anything for me.

I think it'll come sooner than that. TS is burned by their incorrect prediction at the beginning of summer, now they want to shoot for a much later date to make up for it. People are never disappointed when a product arrives sooner than anticipated, but boy do they get upset when it arrives later than predicted. August is basically a lowball bet.

What were you expecting? Dual-Quad Core Xeons?

The guts of a MBP + desktop video card + faster, larger hard drive + new enclosure = New iMac.

    What am I missing?

    Wrong.

While I can't confirm what TS has stated, I can tell you that there are a whole lot more people involved when a new Apple product comes to market. The board (and a few others, like JI) is only exclusively involved until the prototypes are agreed upon.

Apple's board, doesn't write the manuals; updated the Apple.com website; manufacturer the boxes, etc.

There are a lot of people who could have seen the packaging, manuals, or something to tell TS.
