Is there an OS X calendar program that I can program to pop up to remind me of something I will have forgotten about by the time it comes?

I'm looking for something I can set and forget about, not something I have to open everytime the computer starts, and not something that requires I set the computer to run at login.

Help is appreciated!

    Entourage does it... it's also not a free program. I believe Palm Desktop does as well. Both of those apps install a hiden application that runs in the background and launches at startup to display those messages.

    I love Entourage, can't wait to sync with my Palm through it. You don't have to have a Palm to use Palm desktop either... and it's free, so I'd suggest that.

    Just about anything you get is going to have to be running to work. But OS X is a different beast than OS 9--you don't have to worry about setting lots of items to start up at login. If the calander is well written, it will use negligible resources (processor/RAM) when in the background, and will not slow the startup much at all. Stability is not even an issue with OS X, it simply runs solid no matter what you throw at it. Short of dropping a turd inside your Powermac case, nothing is going to crash OS X!

    You might want to check <a href="http://www.wundermoosen.com/"; target="_blank">http://www.wundermoosen.com/</a>;

    Got a couple of calendar applications for OS X.

    Try <a href="http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/index.shtml"; target="_blank">http://www.versiontracker.com/macosx/index.shtml</a>; for other ones.

    Do you want a calendar per say, or just something to remind you of stuff? I've written a program that puts a little character in your menubar which turns into a * when something is supposed to happen. You drop down the menu and can see what it is, and selecting it will erase the item and turn the menubar icon normal again. It doesn't put an icon in the dock, runs at startup so it's always there, is very small, and is open source! So, give it a try and let me know what you think. If you want new features, let me know, I'll be glad to add more capabilities!

    It's called "OCRemind".

    You'll find a bunch of useful stuff there, if I do say so myself! :-)

    Perhaps Personal Organizer does as well.
