I've been doing some digging and while many/all think the iPod is going to be more than just what we see today.. Here are some things that might be interesting...

While Apple assembeled the iPod just about everying including the OS came from someone else...

Pixo is the developer of the OS... and where did Pixo come from?

Anyone else find out anything interesting about the iPod?

Dave

Just before the iPod was announced Apple said it was looking to acquire a company. After the introduction, I wondered if Pixo was the company they were talking about. Could this be the case?

or you could go on my theory of aliens. See its not really processors inside of the iPod they're two tiny aliens. One plays the music on his bongo drums and the other navigates the menus for you. And when you want to play breakout one is the ball and the other is the paddle.

After reading my posts and then your posts I can now see that it's people like you that make AIForums a much better place... You have provided much more insight than I and now I think I shall keep my speculation and findings to myself or find somewhere that people will enjoy reading them.

Thank you for showing me the errors of my ways.

So, Dave, why'd you remove the fact that the Pixo folks are mostly ex-Apple and a few are ex-Newton?

Dunno what else you noticed, it's gone too. Diagnostic mode and the tests?

I agree, there's a lot more than MP3's this thing can play. I'm curious as to the nature of an empty 8-pin chip socket on the iPod's MoBo. It has pullup/down resistors on one side, so it appears to be for an address or switches. Other capabilities?

iPod: The untold story, sex. lies, and betrayal.

    brought to you by HBO.

With a few hardware hacks though, the iPod could easily become a full fleged PDA. Do a search for the iPod over at slashdot. They have a awsome discussion about this.
