aaaggggh!!!!! Ratings in iTunes 3 don't stay!!!
WTF!!!!
I must've rated hundreds of my songs, and I wouldve thought that the rating gets embedded into the id3 tag or something... or at least into the iTunes preferences!!!
Since I had a lot of junk MP3s, my library started getting messy. I selected all and deleted everything to clear the list. I dragged my Music folder onto iTunes, and now, all my rated MP3s are nonrated again!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH
HOW FLIPPING STUPID CAN THIS BE?????????

I know it sucks, but when you deleted all of you songs, you deleted their records from the XML file. So, now you know. Sorry.
Remember your "sound check" thread? *ahem* <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />
The sound check data and the ratings, as I said before, are ONLY stored in the MP3 if the ID3 tag is version 2.4. Otherwise, that information is kept in iTunes' library. When you remove a file from the library, its entry is deleted. Thus, if you add it again later, these characteristics will be reset. If you want your mp3s themselves to keep the information, you need to convert the tags to v 2.4.
If you don't learn from history, you are only doomed to repeat it.
