Ok i not have any trouble with my 2 months old imac 20 2.4ghz

I have one rare freeze when use vista, video blackout. anyway i not use vista never more.

3 days now runing leopard no troubles.

I have on friend with this trouble, imac 24 freee , i see the fans on imac run very slow, and never see the speed increase, its really strange.

You can put your hand on the blackplastic cover and can detect some points at very very high temp.

I install on that imac smc fan crontrol and setup all minimum speed fan around 2600 rpm,

At this speed the machine work really more cool and from the last 72 hs the crash stoped.

For anyone want try, this is the link for smscfancontrol http://www.conscius.de/~eidac/index.html

I want test my imac stressing the imac video card, please sombdoy know some tool for create high stress on video card?

Please all guys with this ugly crashes please repply about what is your experience after put speedfan tool to work on your imac.

NOTE: you can increase the value if crash continue, anyway values over 3000rpm make the noise a nghtmare, for really high intensive tasks put the smcfan around 3200 rpm, i know ugly noise, but if this work like on test perform, we can confirm the problem is HIGH TEMP !!

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH GUYS !!

Best regards.

I just installed smcFanControl on my iMac 24-inch 2.8 GHz.

Before this, my fans ran at 700, 1200, 1200 almost 100% of the time according to the iStat widget.

After installing smcFanControl, I set the minimum fan speeds to 900, 1500, 1500.

    Results are:

    1. No increase in noise that I can hear.

    2. Average temperature drop across all sensors of 5 degrees Celsius. However the GPU diode temp decreased by 8° C.

I then watched a movie for about 10 minutes and the GPU temps increased by 3 degrees. So, overall, using smcFanControl to slightly increase the min fan speed appears to be "a good thing".

I don`t think it is a temp issue, because i have the same problem and it start even to freeze when i start the imac when its was a hole night off and the mac is cold so ithink its a hardware problem and i have read somewere that it is bad memory of the grapichs.

also sorry for my bad english
