iphone hack - 3rd party headphones plus microphone

I'd like to use my BOSE sound cancelling headphones to listen to music on the iphone and then to answer the phone and talk to people without taking them off. Has anyone worked out a hack to wire up 3rd party headphones and a separate 3rd party microphone simultaneously to an iphone?



My guess is that you'd use a 3.5mm 4 terminal male (like on the iphones headphones) splitting to a 3.5mm stereo female for the headphone and a 3 .5mm mono to the mike. I don't know if this already exists or not. If not and it had to be made, can anyone advise on the wiring? Or on what type of mike to use? Or if there is in fact another way of going about this?
