Does anyone know how to turn the ipod off?

in iPod + iTunes + AppleTV edited January 2014
I think my batteries are sucking up power since it stays on for a long time after I am done with my IPOD. Is there a way, or is it just how cool the IPOD is- that it never needs an off switch?

    Depends on the model you have. For most iPods you hold down the play button for about 3-5 seconds.



    For the iPod Touch I believe you need to hold the 'lock' button down for a couple of seconds, then swipe the shut down button on the screen.

    Also if you hit pause and then lock it it should go to sleep/off.
