A little practice and they can be learned well in a few days and then more than make up for the training. Same as with anything great. You seem to be too young to remember when computers first came with mice; tons of critics blasted them. Very few computers today ship without them.
I just hope Steve or Micros**t don't spend 30 minutes talking about the new Microsoft Office during the keynote. I'll be happy get it, but it's not keynote material.
By all means go to MWSF. I think this year will be teh big one in terms of hardware so it could be cool to be the first human to ever lay eyes on some of the new things. I could be wrong, but you would still have a great time.

I spent the day randomly checking elevators and sitting in coffee shops eavesdropping on other people's conversations, but: nothing... There's not enough out there to make my annual poll on what's coming. THis is a bummer.
