Mail keeps crashing

I have my Mail.app linked to my GMAIL account via IMAP. Every time I open Mail.app it will open and sync for a minute or two and then I will get the spinning beach ball and it will close giving me an error. This happens 100% of the time I open Mail.app. I have since began using GMAIL online, but would love to utilize Mail.app since it syncs with AddressBook.



Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone have any advice?

    That happened on my wife's system about a year ago. Wish I could recall what caused it. I believe we through away the "com.apple.mail.plist" file and after that it was fine. Wish I had more details, but I'm old and my brain doesn't work as good any more.



    Instead of throwing it completely away save it on a drive somewhere in case you need to restore your pref settings if this doesn't cure Mail's problem.
