Difference between FCP3 for educators and "regular" FCP3?

Can anyone help me out with this question? Are both packages of FCP software the same except that the version for educators is not upgradeable? (Thought I heard that once....)

Thanks for the assistance!

AFAIK the education version is the same as the retail (with the exception of the splash screen). If you buy the educational version you are not suppose to use it to make money (i think i heard that somewhere at least)

it's the same. though i don't think the edu version is upgradeable. since it only costs $250-300, which is the same as the regular upgrade price...

There is no difference, and it is upgradeable when you need to go legit after you graduate.

    Let us clear everything up.

    1. They are exactly the same, except for the splash screen.

    2. It is upgradeable.

    3. The EULA (End User License Agreement) specifies that you cannot use the educational version for commercial use, ie. to create for profit work.

The above is true for just about all creative software vendor's educational versions, ie. Adobe, Macromedia, Apple
