Need reliable mobile external hard drive for iMac 24 intel and MacBook intel.
Suggested are G-Technology, LaCie, Western Digital, etc
Your opinions appreciated
I have the WD Passport and haven't had any issue. Nice, light weight and bus powered and low priced (check Costco). A friend has a Lacie, which is also a good brand. Not sure what model he has.
Reallym it depends on how portable you need it to be and what you are using it for. If it doesn't have to be tiny, you could go for a full size 3.5" drive that has USB2 and/or FW400/800 and the price per GB is lower. If you really want portable, then usually only have USB2 and maybe FW400 and the price per GB goes up. You are also more likely to find a 7200 RPM drive in the full size drives.
