Be prepared to spend about $500 for specialized equipment.
If I have to spend that much, I'll live without it. This is all I found so far, but have seen no reviews or articles or posts about it at all. Anybody try one of these?:
I'm trying to hook up my Apple TV to a switcher that takes S-video.
The Apple TV is designed for HDTVs and doesn't support legacy TVs. S-Video is a legacy "Standard-Def" connection.
If you are using the switch to connect to an old TV, not worth it. If you are using the switch with an HDTV that doesn't have enough inputs, get a new switch! Using S-Video in between two HD components will ruin the picture.

Sorry, but I disagree. As someone with a Kenwood THX receiver from 1995, and a Sony CRT from 1998, both in excellent condition, and looking to add an AppleTV (or other such device) I have two options:
1) Converter box for $130.
2) New HDTV, new HDMI receiver. $2000 for a decent setup? $3000?
Unless you're willing to upgrade the whole freaking system at once, the converter box is a much better deal.
