  Well if you are going to allow connections from the internet, you need to secure more then just your webserver. You need to consider other items such as remote access(telnet) and filesharing. I would recommend getting a router/hub/firewall. This way you can block unwanted network traffic before it gets to your box..

  <a href="http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=9103&db=mac"; target="_blank"> Brickhouse</a> is the most highly praised OS X firewall right now. It's shareware. For hardware stuff, I don't know, I'm too cheap

  I bought a Linksys 4 Port Cable/DSL Router (model number BEFSR41) at amazon. It has a built in firewall and is a great value at $70.
  
  
  
  To restrict access to your website, you need to modify the Apache configuration file /etc/httpd/httpd.conf. Apache configuration is fairly involved and is out of the scope of this post.   There are also third party front ends to Apache that make configuration easier, but I have never used any of them. I know <a href="http://www.tenon.com"; target="_blank">Tenon</a> has one. Hopefully, Apple will incorporate one of the front ends into 10.2.
