I think Jan 2009 is a good time frame for a 32 GB iPhone to show up.
If something shows up in October, it's going to be at least $399 with contract, but it's probably 3 months too bleeding edge, especially for the quantities Apple need. It'd be nice if Apple just makes a 120 GB hard drive version (with bigger battery) for $399. That would be a big profit margin at $399.
