so it would seem that eye tv is the culprit. i then went to open the com.apple.AutoWake.plist in the SystemConfiguration folder and found 2 entries for EyeTV under wakepoweron which correspond to the times listed above (i.e. 09/24/08 00:42:30 and 03/31/32 06:00:00). i have tried dumping the com.apple.AutoWake.plist into the trash and then restarting, but a new file is generated with the same entries, and also opening the com.apple.AutoWake.plist to delete the entries, but then get an error saying i don't have appropriate access privileges to save the file (even when i change privileges under 'get info' to read/write i still get the same error message).

so, i am a bit stuck as to what to do next and would be grateful for some help to delete these entries so i can get a good night's sleep!!

thanks

nick

I wish I had something challenging bringing my iMac out of sleep....I found out my cat steps on the keyboard overnight and watches the screensaver when it comes on.

I used to have the same problem before, but 10.5.5 seems to have solved it so maybe try the software update if you haven't done so.

I'm not smart enough to decipher all that report you posted so my answser is kinda simple. I have OS 10.4.11 but under System Preferences, Energy Saver, there is a button on bottom right: Schedule. It schedules your computer to wake at a particular time. Click it -- is yours scheduled to wake at 00:42?

does 10.5 have the same thing?

Elgato is not the culprit. The elgato thing you see is, as the name suggests, a workaround for a bug in OS X that caused spurious entries in the machine's power schedule. 10.5.5 has allegedly fixed this problem so you should upgrade to that.
