    I have that problem too, but it burns at 12x, not 8x.

    oh, sorry! i fogot to mention its a Ti550. kinda sucks. i was planning on selling it to a friend who was all interested in it. he was supposed to look at it and decide on one day and guess what....i wake up , go to maccentral and see in bold " new powerbooks announced. 667 , 800"

    motherf**ker!

    oh well. guess i should have done it sooner! <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laughing]" />

    so , why would this be only at 8x. i installed 10.1.5 thinking it would help...not

    I'm assuming that :

    32x=Write

    10x=Rewrite

    40x=Read

    If that is the case, CDRW will only write at 10x. Why 8x? Maybe check your preferences for corrections..

    I have a 12x sony firewire CDR and it will only burn at 4x. I have tried setting the burn speed to max and 12x but it still burns at 4x. If you visit the apple discussion forums, many, many people are having the problem of itunes burning much slower than the drive is rated for.
