Did anyone mention that June would be the same timeframe for Jobs to return and announce the next iPhone? That would be a nice time to come back and say hi to everyone and announce a new product.
Has this been posted yet? It seems the camera will still be only 2MP but it will have video capture. No word on auto focus though. Still come on Apple its 2009 and you cant get past 2mp!!!!! And before anyone comes here with your 'megapixels dont equal quality' well its all we can hope for with apple as they dont seem intent on improving imaging otherwise do they.

It's true though The only reason you need more megapixels is to have a picture that can be blow up bigger without losing quality. The quality of the lens and the chips that process the image are much more important. I mean what would be the point of 5MP or more on the iPhone, it would just mean less space for music b/c the picture would take up more room.

There is an issue with the iPhone thickness. The phones with relatively good cameras are much thicker than the iPhone. Unless there is so breakthrough in camera tech I doubt we'll see anything much better than what we have. Apple is obsessed with thinness and adding video recording would help mask some low quality still image complaints, though clearly not on this forum.
Having many, many pixels behind a lens the size of a pea, and a small pea at that, is good for getting noise in low light conditions and an also for creating big files.

Yes this is true but by that you are only stating the obvious and insinuation that Apple will only put on a decent camera once they get some sort of improved super optics. There are plenty of phones that are thin but have semi decent cameras - take the SE W890 for example.
Yes better optics do work but I dont think any camera phones these days use optics of quality found in digi cams do they? Sm im guessing by that rationale non one buys any camera phones as they are 'just megapixels'. Please you cannot hide behind this argument all the time.

But not for much else...
No one is asking for 8mp or even 5 for that matter. I think it's obvious imaging is not on the priority list for Apple. But 3.2 surley is an acceptable request. All people want is something adequete for taking random pics here and there.
