Amazon is making some aggressive moves in the e-book/Kindle arena and seem to be shoring up assets to put them in an even better position as Apple may (or may not) be pondering a move in the same direction with their rumored MacTablet/Pad/Thingy...

That's interesting I hope they honour the terms which I agreed to when I downloaded and installed their software.

Doesn't matter given that Apple will sell millions of MacTablet/Pad/Thingy unless it pulls a Newton while the Kindle will sell thousands.

Amazon will put a reader on that unless it like selling only a handful of Kindles and a handful of Kindle titles.

What Amazon ought to fear is their own stupidity in not locking up the ebook retail market when they had the opportunity. The Kindle store isn't close to where the iTunes store was and is vulnerable if Apple can get access to content by going to publishers. And their hardware is nowhere nearly as mainstream.

Now Barnes and Noble has purchased fictionwise and if they are smart they'll try to partner with Apple if they can on hardware and concentrate on selling books.
