Can't make image of an Audio CD in Disk Copy

Just got a new eMac with Jaguar (Combo Drive), and I can't seem to make a new image of Audio CD's in Disk Copy. In Disk Copy, I go to New/Image from Device, but my CD drive is greyed out in the window that pops up, so I can't select it. And there's no disclosure triangle next to the drive, like when I make an image from a normal CD-ROM.

Any idea how to fix this?

Uh. Why would you want to create an image from an audio cd? Images are good for exact 1:1 copies. Copies from audio cds are always 1:1, unless you change the codec. <img src="graemlins/bugeye.gif" border="0" alt="[Skeptical]" />

I want to make an image of an audio CD, then burn it to a blank CD. I don't want to import the CD into iTunes, convert it all to mp3's (which will lose some definition), then burn. And I don't want to have to get Toast to make a copy of a CD.

Am I wrong here? What's the best way to copy an Audio CD in OS X?

You could always use the Importing preference in iTunes and import the CD as AIFF (which is lossless), then burn it from there.

when you insert your audio cd, it mounts (shows up) on your desktop. If you open the CD, there are files in there.

Those are the raw, uncompressed audio files.

You can simple drag and drop (copy them) to your HD.

Then once copied, you can insert a blank CDR and use iTunes to burn the audio CD (make new playlist, add those raw files, n burn)

    simple as that

If you ABSOLUTELY have to have a disk image of an auido CD (for lord knows whatever reason) I think you can create one with Toast.

I didn't think of importing the CDs as AIFF files... thanks!

ZO's suggestion is sort of similar. Either way, you'll have to get the tracks onto your Mac. In Toast I can pop the audio CD in my Cube's optical drive, a blank CDR in my Firewire burner, and off it goes...

I wouldn't expect Apple to make a direct audio CD copying app available: as the UK marketing manager said earlier this year when asked if this would be appearing, "all we'd be doing is expending effort in order to put another company out of business".

Now, who would do such a mean and nasty thing?
