yeah. but why should i have to load it a second time? I've already seen it once, i don't need to see it two or three more times....

But once the original's in your cache, it loads from there...not repeatedly across the web. Instantement!
once an image is loaded into memory/cache it is referenced from there. ie, it doesn't load twice it just appears twice. otherwise websites with patterned backgrounds would be more bandwidth intense, not less.
though if you have less video memory it might be an issue.
That first picture that you posted is spot on to what I think the new iMac will actually look like - a cross between the iBook and a smallish LCD. However, with all this hype on Apple's site, prehaps its something much more daring?
I like that white keyboard! Only wish it was extended... but very spiffy.

I like it too, but it made me realize something. Desktop Macs CAN'T be metal. Ever get static electricity and type? I've had shocks that have (temporarily) killed my sound... A metal Mac would just make this problem worse...
I think the imac is going to be a two part machine. For example the screen comes off and can ack as a tablet. the whole comp can fold up so you can move it around. sort of like this picture but I'm sure Apple would do a better job.
None of these will do. Many couldn't physically stand on a desk without topling over and there doesn't seem anyway to tilt the screen. We're going to see something really nice, not redos of excisting products. By this time Monday the Apple site will be overwhelmed.
I like the verticle mount CD-ROM like on the TAM. I hope they can find someone to make verticle combo drives for them. The new iMac would then kick royal ass
