What is the Best Value HD 1080 editing Software?

I have an intel 15" macbook pro with Tiger installed

Considering upgrading to Leopard with Ilife '09 to get the 1080 capable editing

but is there a better value alternative that will run with my current system?

I have a considerable amount of software like CS3 suite installed.

Or, Should I simply purchase a 13" that will come with Leopard and Ilife pre-installed?

Your current computer should do fine. Try editing first before sinking money into a new computer, there's nothing the new computer can run that your current one can't. If you edit and decide the speed is worth it, then go ahead.

I'm pretty sure iMovie '06 can edit 1080, but that might only have a good import for HDV. iMovie '08 and '09 can import AVCHD, which is a newer standard. They are pretty simple programs. If you have Premiere CS3, then that should work, I don't know.
