External HD Recommendation

New here, and looking for some advice... recently purchased an older ('07) iMac - iMac 20" 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 1GB RAM & 250GB Hard Drive... Was adequate for my needs at the time, however, looking to get some additional HD space.

Are there any particular brands/models of External Hard Drives that are recommended specifically for Intel Macs?? And any particular feature that they may offer that is different from any garden variety HD for PCs. Thanks.

    Nothing special.

Seagate, WD, iomega, LaCie etc.. All should work with a Mac. All those I tried did work, even if it didn't say Mac compatible on the box.

Getting one with Firewire is a neat idea (Firewire is significantly faster than USB), some of them come with both USB and Firewire support, but they do go for more than the USB-only versions. It depends if the extra speed is worth it for you.
