I guess I'm just trying to elicit some response. Cultural diversity? I live in a country that has 10 million people and 3 official languages. Close to 1 million people with immigrant status. The father of my grandmother was a German WWI soldier. Am I part German? No. I'm Belgian. And that's more than enough.
Yeah, but when we sink our identity into the idea of a STATE we don't want to get smothered by it . . . and offer it all of ourselves . . there are aspects that we carry into this 'nation State' of America that can only be desccribed with reference to their non-American origins . . . even if those are also fictions

I'm puzzled by the diversity comment. I usually think of diversity in terms of things you can't change such as gender and race. The other things are up to individuals to decide.

But it is what it is. I'm what I've termed, a replublicat, voting on the issues. I liked Obama and huckabee go figure yet true repub saw huckabee as to liberal.

In fact, since Apple refuses to produce a mid-range headless tower or a computer with a graphics card at all appropriate for its price range, and my MBP suffered the dreaded Nvidia GPU failure, my homebuilt PC is the only machine I actually own, although I also have use of a newish iMac my dad brought home from work (he works at Apple in Austin).
