Well if they're wanting to gather information on a $1000.00 price point they can have mine right now....... no way. Actually I'd have to preface that by unless it offers something so totally unique that I can't replicate it by either the iPhone or a MacBook/Pro.
we don't know that it would be $1000. they might be letting that figure out to gauge how many would be willing to go that high. and then release it for only $700. catching all those folks AND the ones that said "I like the idea of the device but that price is a tad too high for me"
although I might go for $1000 unlocked and off contract, with perhaps the carriers bringing it down to $700 with a subsidy (2 year contract most likely).
but $1000 stuck on ATT and forced into a contract for the 3g, no way. I don't care how cool it is. I live in an area with city created free Wifi that covers me just fine.
This is exactly why I would laugh until tears streamed down my face if there was no tablet. Would be a brilliant move to force the hands of all of the potential e-book reader manufacturers, then once all is known to Apple they simply have to refine their options before their next product release. Ingenious. And to think, Ballmer is about to make a complete fool of himself tonight with his keynote. Oh, boy... I can't wait.
When is that moron delivering his out of keynote boys? Comedy hour.
My question is, who's watching the watchers? At some point, the chain of surveillance has to end, and that point is usually those who are doing the surveillance. I suspect the golden nuggets of information that sometimes leak from "anonymous" corporate Apple employees comes from these very people. I'm sure Apple does indeed plan "controlled leaks," but it is also human nature to tell others about someone else's big secrets.
It's too late for that now. I think it's all but assumed today that Apple will release a tablet. If not, their stock price will nosedive and that is far more significant than throwing egg on SB's face.
Unless their announcement is even better than the speculations. Like the new AppleTV with content from every major player including Netflix, Boxee, Hulu, Disney, etc. All for $199

Or not.
As in most things the difference between Apple and other global mega-corporations is that Apple are good at it.

no big deal, but yes they have great toys and such, that being said ...
there is a borderline between normal secrecy for any company and any product/project and
dictatorship. from the inside, you can tell that the line has been crossed way and far out
This article is a controlled leak.
The other kind can sometimes be cured with medications.
