Actually, there are really very few artists with pages so far. Fewer than 12.

To see a list of all of them, I typed "" (null between double quotes) into the search field and clicked "show artists". There are currently 10.

Here's the entire pathetic list of artists on Ping:

    Yo-Yo Ma

    Dave Matthews Band

    Coldplay

    The New Pornographers

    Lucy Schwartz

    Jack Johnson

    Katy Perry

    Lady Gaga

    Muse

    Mark Ronson

It's almost as if these 10 artists were hand-picked by Steve.

Of course this doesn't help when the artist isn't available. Fortunately, even my most obscure favorites are. The one I was looking for that isn't is a band called "Balloon" from 1990.

That's not true either. e.g. I have 25 different recordings of works by Mahler, one of those I bought from the iTunes store, when I selected to manually choose Mahler as a favourite I was only allowed to select from the selection of Mahler works available on the iTunes store. This was true for every artist where I wanted to either select a different track as a favourite work by them (if not purchasable from the iTunes store it is not available as a choice) or if they didn't have any work on iTunes at all. I couldn't add them to my favourites.

The choices of recommended artists I would be interested came back as:

    Coldplay

    Yo-Yo Ma

    Lady Gaga

    Katy Perry

    Jack Johnson

    and other such talentless people.

I wouldn't tolerate any one of them in my music collection.

One skilled in reading comprehension, you're not.

    Again:

-->You can manually select any music that's available on iTunes, not just what you've purchased.<--

I didn't say you could select music that's not on iTunes.

And talent is relative. It may not be music that you like, but who do you know that plays cello as well as Yo-Yo Ma?

I assume you've got a band, right? What's the iTunes link?

And not being a dick is apparently a talent you haven't yet mastered.

Got iTunes 10. It's okay. The gray, muted icons are blah. I really hate how they've stacked the traffic light buttons, they should be in the same position on every window. Terrible UI design. I like the new way lists with album covers are organized.

PING is absolute crap. There are less than a dozen artists you can actually follow, and the comments are overflowing with spam posts from 3 different users. I can't believe Apple would release something that seems like it should still be in development.
