I think the functionality issues will recede and it will come down to if you want a keyboard and how much you like the touch framework (as opposed to the current, largely off the mark IMO, talk about what constitutes a "real" computer).

I just saw them at the Apple store. Clearly it's all about the aesthetics first, then the weight, then the function. Actually I was so taken by the form that I forgot to check out the function part at all, meaning the instant on/resume thing. Have to go back.

Interestingly, they are continuing the brushed-aluminium-contour theme that first appeared on the iMac back, then on the iPad back. I have never felt anything so satisfying -- in hardware, that is -- as the back of the Pad, and now the Air. I think they'll sell a lot of them on the strength of desire alone.

iPhone, iPad and now many Macs are sold on desire alone, for the most part. Only later on through usage people realise, oh, this actually works alright...!

As I understand instant-on is just specialised sleep mode refined to the T. Boot up time is apparently, in any case, just 15 seconds.

Hey, count me in, I would like to buy 11" Air for my mom! Really like that device, pretty cheap yet powerful enough to feel like huge MacPro if you don't run any heavy apps.
