More killer apps from Apple?

I recently downloaded Infinity Blade for my iPhone & it's friggin'

amazing. Other game companies create their own exclusive killer

apps for their consoles to draw people to them. Microsoft has Halo &

Gears of War. Sony has Gran Tourismo & God of War. Apple has

Texas Hold'em!?!? What is Apple's reasoning for not creating their

own killer apps to draw new customers to the iPhone, iPad, &

iTouch? They should be hiring people to fill in this gap. Hell, maybe

the should buy Epic...they have enough cash.

What would be a good fit for Apple? Go all out & buy an innovative

game company (Nintendo or EA) or try to hire individual people

(Ken Jaffe, Fumito Ueda, etc.)

Apple doesn't care about games. Nintendo is the only hardware company that fits Apple's line of thinking (and would therefore be a pleasant merger), but it won't ever happen.

Apple doesn't need "killer games"; their hardware sells itself.

Apple should use any advantages that it can for more marketshare.

One of the reasons that the PS2 was such a major success was the

Grand Theft Auto franchise which was exclusive to Sony for years.

Final Fantasy is another which Sony swiped from Nintendo. Other

exclusive titles off the top of my head (Ridge Racer, God of War,

Wipeout, Spyro, Metal Gear Solid, Devil May Cry, & etc.) Also it's

not like they don't have any money to spare. They have 51 BILLION

in the bank. They could easily create a dedicated team of 20-30

people to make something special. They don't even have to be

games per say. Just killer apps that you can only find on an

    Apple device.

Their advantage is hundreds of third-party developers making games for their devices. They don't have to pay for the development and they still sell more hardware. Win-win. Apple doesn't need a gaming division.

Apple HAS those. It's called iLife/iWork on OS X and all the stock applications on iDevices. Also iWork. There are over 100,000 third-party applications on iOS that aren't on Android or Windows Phone 7.

They don't need to spend the money. Therefore they won't. It's pointless.
