Star Wars Episode II - saw it today

I got into an exhibitor screening for Attack of the Clones today thanks to a friend of mine.

wow

Fans should be real happy, normal movie patrons probably won't get what the big fuss is about.

Some things bothered me, like the pacing and editing of the movie. But the action made up for it. The CGI was impressive and didn't look fake at all.(unlike the trailers for some reason)

Even Yoda is 100% CGI but looks amazing. Watching him fight was...uhh...interesting. Its hard to describe. Now I see why he's the "master".

It was a little slow at times with the whole "love story" going on. But Natalie Portman is SMOKING in this movie and she makes up for all the mushy stuff. hehe

If you were debating on seeing it, its worth the < insert your theaters price here >

Plus there's a few little surprises that I won't give away here, but it has to do with something in Episode IV

You lucky dog you!! getting to see it so early. Is it true that more than 75% of this film was CGI ? I am stoked about this one, hopefully it will fill the action void of Episode1. Just a hint here, do they let you in on any part of how and why Annakin turns to the darkside? Great teaser info by the way!

75% CGI? I'd say more like 95%. Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't even 1 scene without something digital in it. You know that its CGI because its just so amazing and other-worldly to be real. But it does look natural and not out of place.

Do they ever!!! Yes, you see him starting to turn. But the best part is, you feel BAD for him. He's such a tragic character. The way Lucas starts his path to the darkside is brilliant. I loved it.

It's hard to say how much of a movie is CGI when ALMOST EVERYTHING IS!

Ep 1 had nary, not a single, correct me if I'm wrong NONE sets. Everything was shot bluescreen, and sets were all CGI.

Ep 1 had quite a lot of characters CGI. All the Jar Jars. The giant fish. The robots. Hmm... oh yeah all the aliens in the Tatooine city!

So by pixel, Ep 1 was probably about 99% CGI.

I wonder how Lucas will outdo himself on Ep 2. Perhaps he will require theaters to show it in digital format? It's the perfect way to force every theatre into adapting this new standard - EVERYONE in America will go to see another Star Wars. Some several times.

It has to do something with "Episode IV" (the original "Star Wars"?

I know Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru are in this, right? Let's see...is there a reference to Han Solo?

I always thought it would be cool to see a pristine, just off-the-showroom cameo by the Millenium Falcon.

    Am I warm?

Wait, it's Lando as a little boy? Mark Hamill in a cameo? Natalie Portman, in a nod to Carrie Fisher, is sporting that Jabba slave outfit in a scene?

    Come on, dammit!

Unknown to most, before Lando Calrissian was the Baron Administrator of Cloud city, he paid his way through the academy with a Colt 45 distribution job.

Thats the fancy pants way of saying it , but yes. Its very brief and towards the end. Lots of Star Wars geeks will get geek chills when they see it.

According to this site, <a href="http://translation2.paralink.com/,"; target="_blank">http://translation2.paralink.com/,</a>; that translates into "star of the death".

    Ahem...

Really? How cool. Is it underconstruction, then?

    SPOILER WARNING

No you don't see it underconstruction, you see the new bad guy (Dooku) with the "plans" for the "ultimate weapon". The plans are a hologram and he makes sure he takes them with him when he flees the scene so that the good guys don't find out about it.

It was just so cool to see this giant hologram of it and him talking about it. Very cool.

I wonder if Lucas is going to do episode's 7, 8, and 9, after he finishes 1, 2, and 3???

He'll probably wait another 10-20 first.

I read in this month's Maxim in an interview with Lucas that he never plans to make any more movies after 3. He'll be too old and really never intended for the story to extend beyond Return of the Jedi. He claims rumors about episode's 7-9 were the result of a misquote.
