What is holding the new PowerMacs back ?

Are they waiting for the G5??



Is the new mobo not ready??



Are they waiting for a new case-design??



Waiting for os 10.2??



Was it about not interfering with the iMac release ??

    Personally, I'd say timing.



    Apple probably wanted to let the iMac shine. Introing a GM G5 or G4 at 1.4hz would kindof take away from it don't you think? It's coming. Don't worry.

    The Register says the next ppc coming out of motorola was slated for early 2002.

    It is late, & i've already sold my G4! I have full confidence that it's coming on or before Feb 1st. I will suffer through it PMless ... (I'll just have to comendeer my wifes )

    It seems to me that apple may be waiting on the next power mac in order to maximize their new imac sales. If the G5 had come out now, it would kill imac sales (especially the high end model, maybe why the high end model is available first?) They wait a month or two, selling Imacs, then introduce a G5 which is equally as stunning as the new imac. By that time, the imac will be firmly entrenched.

    So, is the Powermac update going to be a "special event" or a Seybold (isn't one coming in a couple months?)? I left MWNY out of the list because I don't think the Powermac line could survive with it's current specs against the iMac for 6 months with no upgrade! Just my thoughts...



    What do you guys think?
