Don't let me down Apple! I want that update more than anything (besides from free, or at least $79 Final Cut Pro!)

I thought Minis couldn't support 8 Gigs till the mid 2010 model.

In any case, 8 gigs to run that app is ridiculous. They need to tune the code up a bit!

You mean they have never done that in the whole 4 month history of the Mac app store?

(But yes, I agree. AI seems to be stretching logic a bit on this.)

Aperture likes more RAM, but putting the DB on a SSD changes everything for the better. It simply flies, even if your photo's are referenced to magnetic drives. Mainly because of all the small files in the Aperture DB that get constantly changed.

If you use it as a professional tool I suggest to use it mainly on a desktop, not a laptop. Eventhough macbooks are fast, they are designed for portability, not speed. Haven't seen it run on a macbook myself; maybe someone else can share their experience. The license allows you to install it on both a laptop and a desktop, but not to use it simultaneously.

Doesn't compute. The 4GB to 6/8GB benefits would be marginal, if any at all.

Have you actually CHECKED the memory utilization for A3?

It probably just is that your definition of "great" and his differ. And/or different workflows/workloads.

Yes, Sherlock, but it WASN'T there for a while.

Actually Apple does that all the time.

Though, on the regular store.apple.com, not on the (short lived) App Store. But then again, there have been no major app updates during the App Store's lifespan.

just because you don't see it on the homepage ever tried the SEARCH feature before pulling a CNN and making premature announcements?

They didn't "announce" anything. They said that the disappearance might suggest an update (keyword here: "suggest").

Young man, there is no substitute for REAL RAM, pure & simple.

I upgraded by lappie from 4 to 8GB and there was a definite boost in performance right across the board, especially with A3

Besides this really has to be the silliest article on apple fritter for a while

3.1.2 is out there, and I'm excited to see if it will deliver any significant improvement. I'm really hoping there's a version 4 soon, this shitslow pack of amazing software drives me nuts.. Even with 2.8ghz quad-core/8gb ram.
