Help !!

Using EvoCam to record a movie through the iSight camera I have a 39.5GB file. When trying to open it with Quicktime Pro, I get an error message saying it is not a movie file. VLC is not interested in it either. The problem has something to do with the file size.

Immediately after I got the error message I tried to make another small movie file, exactly the same settings etc. The smaller file opens & plays perfectly.

How to I remedy this & get the large file to play (with any movie player).

Use HandBrake to make it a size that makes actual sense. Then try the new file.

unfortunately Handbrake does not recognize the file "no valid source found".

There was an issue with mpeg-4 movies over 4GB requiring 64-bit players or something. Quicktime Pro is 32-bit. Quicktime X is 64-bit and there is a 64-bit version of VLC. Of course, the movie might just be corrupt if it didn't save properly.

What OS are you running? What version of HandBrake were you using? What version of QuickTime were you using?

That may require a good look at that file.

If it's not porn or copyrighted (by third parties) material perhaps you could make it available for perusal through e.g. Files over Miles (http://www.filesovermiles.com/) and posting the link here.

Up- and download of a 39,5GB file will take a lot of time, though, depending on your connection.
