Sure. Google is in the process of buying one of Samsung's biggest competitors in the cell phone market. You don't think that gives Samsung cause to worry?

Initially Android was intended to serve as Google's entry into mobile generally. Apple's success in the space with apps meant that Google had to respond quickly to the fact that web based revenues were under challenge from app based searches. In this way they could continue to benefit from iOS while hedging against apps and maintain a relationship with their primary product: the Google user.

Not an odd desire at all just a prudent hedge against competitors leveraging iOS against them. OF course it came at the expense of tensions with their Apple partner. But hey they were just looking out for numero uno.

Why? Because 2 years ago it was HTC who were getting special treatment from Google, and from the association did very well out of it. Google have already stated that they will give a preferential treatment to different partners each year.

So for the last few months, and a few more to come, Samsung is in the barrel.

Now, who could the next Android premium partner be? Hmmm, MMM, it's on the tip of my tongue. Big mobile phone maker beginning with - I want to say M. Maybe it'll be Moto Mobile - who they just happened to have bought?

And yes, I am very anti-Google. We are seeing yet another Microsoft in the making with Google. Microsoft did not bring the PC market forward, it just stalled it. It made PC obsolete every 3 years as the OS absorbed more and more power, they competed and crushed every competitor going, and in the end they were struck down with Anti Trust legislation on both sides of the Atlantic. Microsoft finally lost the plot when they started helping themselves to everyone's IP (eg Sony and Toshiba iirc).

Today we have Google, who compete and crush everyone they can, they have been warned about Anti Trust re Google Books, they are currently being investigated for Anti Trust in search on both sides of the Atlantic. And Google with YouTube infringe copyright, Android is having certain patent issues (at the Oracle level), and so forth. So here we are with yet another monopoly possibly infringing other peoples IP.

But what I hate the most is the sanctimonious way that people allow Google to operate with double standards. For instance, collecting wifi packet data - any other company would have taken a beating over that, but everyone apologised for Google - "Google does no evil", yet Apple got panned for preloading location data?? Apple get panned for having a bad release of iOS - which usually get fixed very quickly, yet Android partners can't be arsed to ever update their own phones. Google is a good open company (eg Google Books) yet competes head on with open source projects that have long since started. Google copies everyone on the internet, from Hotmail to Groupon, yet Apple copies the clear text thing for web pages within Safari, and get totally panned for it! Or how about Apple getting destroyed for having a function that allows them to uninstall an app from an iOS device, yet Android has the same feature - and Google have used it!

So yes, I am anti-Google for good reason.
