American readers need to be 21 or older to read Murbot's posts in this thread....thanky you berrry mulch.....cheers mur...always nice on a sunday night.....the screeks of your children must be deadned some by now.....g
Heehee...the other night, I knocked back a few Bud Lites (okay, 7 or 8 total) and was feeling really chirpy. Hadn't had a beer in MONTHS and I just found myself craving one or two.
Stopped on the way home, grabbed some and I was off...
You know how some people get the whiskey finger when they drink, and end up calling old friends and stuff? I get a massive case of "picker's fingers", and all I want to do when I'm buzzing (or flat out drunk) is play guitar and sing every song ever written.
American readers under 21... do not mind thegelding's post... just don't do anything stupid when you are drunk... that is the reason why we arn't allowed to drink... because some of us don't know how to handle themselves when they are drunk...
i've definitely enjoyed a few beers on a few ocassions. i can hardly classify it as the "best thing evar", after all forbidden fruit is twice as sweet.
and an interesting thing about alcoholism: my pa, his pa, ma's pa, a few of my uncles [on both sides], and my bro have [or had] heavy drinking problems. yet, i can always control my own drinking. i don't feel it necessary to push it too fast, or too far. illicits on the other hand. they are more fun when pushed beyond limits <img src="graemlins/smokin.gif" border="0" alt="[Chilling]" /> .
It's funny how drinking sneaks up on you though. You start drinking one beer during exams before sleep, 'to get your mind off things', and before you know it, you're secretly buying bottles of vodka to pour into your daily two beers. I mean, I've seen many people who go from occasional drinker to semi-alcoholic with merely a two-three month transition period. The other way round is a lot harder.

Wait a second, what does age have anything to do with your statement. isn't it true for any first time drinker?
Myself, have been dry for 5 years now. no regrets.
Mountain Dew. Nectar of the Gods. Elixir of Life. Stuff That Keeps Me Awake During the Day.
Good Stuff?.
So now that I've lived in Europe for a few years, the funniest thing I find about America is this "carding" thing. You get "carded" going to bars. You get "carded" buying wine. You get "carded" looking at beer, fer goodness sake.
My (German) wife had no idea what they were talking about when she tried to buy wine at a supermarket. That was the most insane thing to her.
