I can only relate the experiences of my family in the uk as I haven't been there in a long time. Brother, sister, tons of nieces and nephews and their families. Most started with Android smart phones as they were cheap and frankly a smart phone was a smart phone ... Right? Then one got an iPhone ... They all got to see one in action. Suddently all smart phones were not the same ... and slowly but surely as contacts expire they are all getting iPhones.

Here's what the Guardian has to say:

If you care about truth in the slightest, you will retract this.

I have never said anything remotely like what you wrote.

Put up or shut up. Repost me saying that, or delete what you said.

It was like 91% years ago. I assume it's done nothing but go up.

So, I guess, that wasn't true, after all?

that was the previous quarter when everybody was waiting for iPhone 5

Purely anecdotal but 4 people of my acquaintance have moved from other brands of smartphone to iPhone in the quarter.

One (my wife) moved from WP7 which she liked by liked my iPhone more

    One from Blackberry

Two from low spec Android phones (Wildfire, Samsung Europa)

Also, in the company I am working for at the moment we have shifted to a "bring your own device" policy from Blackberrys.

Out of 26, 8 bought new BB, 2 Windows Phone, one a Nokia E7 (yes, honestly) and 15 iPhones (although one bought a Samsung initially but it wouldn't work on our exchange server)

    I'm in the UK
