    Still buying!

Haptic feedback gets annoying after a while actually, and always using a devices vibration functionality like that ends up having an impact on battery life.

I have no doubt in my mind the geniuses at Apple considered it, even got it working, but decided it wasn't worth incorporating.

I wasn't expecting a revolution but this is a very easy pass, underwhelmed.

Ideally it doesn't matter how they got there, the experience is all that matters. It's only slightly thicker and heavier, so they did it, just the nerds in us are curious of the underpinnings making it work.

    Still.

I was going to post an image of Apple's competition using a tablet but really it's them at a drawing board... as in back to the drawing board... but none of the images I found seemed right.

That doesn't change anything about the accuracy of drawing with your finger. To get any detail you have to zoom in too much to have a pleasant drawing experience.

    They're already showing 1920x1200 tablets with dual-core A9 cpu's...

Technically they can compete, but that's not the whole story here.

I don't. If it was Siri I believe they'd use the name. Instead I suspect this is more in line with Android's on-the-fly dictation. I could be wrong of course.

EDIT: BTW, a teensy bit of a surprise from Apple's presentation. I saw mention that Apple was using a stock photo for their HD Display icon and thought the poster had no idea what he was talking about. Seems he did.

I just always assumed they designed their own.

From the point I made in that Qualcomm's (assumed) MDM9615 can get the same 4G power usage as with 3G with more than 10x the max theoretical performance. I was expecting about 7 hours with the same battery capacity. My deduction was erroneous in that regard.

Probably going with "iMac" and "Macbook Pro", they'll just use the same name, and the less official names will be like "early 2012 iPad"

this tablet is still bad ass. The problem is people like us imagine it's going to be more than it is, and we end up being unimpressed but if you can back up and see it for what it truly is, it's still a great tablet.

besides, brand recognition and it being a trendy device will ensure it sells very well (which is good competition to the other tablets.)

It's not the same. The iPad has 50% more pixels than those resolutions to push. That's takes a toll on a strong of components that can affect the UX.

Was still hoping for double storage across the board, but I'm still impressed.

Waiting for the online store to come back up so I can order a 32GB WiFi

I think this is pretty much everything everyone expected in the last week or so. Unless you were really hung on quad core ( I didn't expect it all along)

The only surprise to me is the lack of Siri, especially since it does includes dictation, it feels intentional.

They are emphasizing the microphone, but never said or showed a sign for Siri (based on the Engadget stream).

The 4 cores should be enough to do the Speech to Text natively. A huge plus for the iPad for writers.
