However do not pretend one bit that you need a new one of course not the previous model is a more then capable tablet. You want one because of the hype.

There are top many real world scenarios and productivity apps to mention that have made the iPad a valuable tool for many businesses. By saying it's "just a toy" you sund like a troll or woefully uninformed.

I took my iPad2 and displayed some retina quality pics on it and compared it with my co-worker's brand spanking new iPad3 today.

Guess what I couldn't really see enough difference in the display to justify upgrading any time soon. The only feature missing is the microphone to dictate voice into text. We tried it out and it produced a lot of mistakes.

My take - if you own a iPad2 don't hold your breath, and now an iPad2 is $100 cheaper to compete with the "goggle" tablet when it comes out! (deliberate typo)

I think I'll wait another year for the next iPad with the A6 processor and Siri(hopefully)

Sarcasm? Must have been, but too many haters around here to take any chances.

Yup. That "hype" machine fools *everyone*, *every* quarter.

    LOL.

Yeah, it *must* be hype. Anything at all to keep from admitting that, yes, ONE company CAN be THIS successful on product quality alone, every damn time.

I sold about 1/3 of mine at $400. Now I feel like I'm playing with the houses money and will let it ride. I admit I'm a little bummed for selling too early.

For most except the hard-core gadget fans (your DaHarders etc), there really isn't much need to upgrade every year, and Apple isn't targeting that market.

You forgot to say "they would sell more if they put Android on them".

Alls I know is that, after reading many posts saying there were no lines at the Apple Stores and plenty of stock, I went in to the Walnut Creek store today and bought one. Real easy.

As far as the dividend/buyback announcement -- I was hoping for at least a 10:1 split, too.

I wanted the split to set up some investment accounts for the grandkids -- $60 per share provides a lot more room to maneuver/experiment/fail/learn than $600 per share.

I love you man, but that is the investing equivalent of wanting an SD slot on the iPhone.

And dictation is very accurate as reported by just about everyone, as well as my own finding and that of my friends.

    Something is wrong there.

I totally agree. The dictation is amazing. As is the screen is simply stunning (the 2 has already passed on my 13-yr old). And the speed.... wow.

I am having trouble believing the original poster.

Where does it say 3 millions DIDNT include the pre-orders ?!? link please

What was the iPhone 4s first week-end sales again? 4 mil? if so the iPad numbers are huge, even if they include the pre-orders that were shipped during the week-end

For whatever reason the hype machine fooled my new iPad screen into being 4x the resolution of the old one.

A picture is probably where the difference will be least visible other than an OpenGL game where you have motion and edges that were already anti-aliased. Now text... well, I'm assuming you didn't actually try loading a page in iBooks/Kindle or Safari? Because that's not subtle and it's definitely not just hype.

On the other hand, if you couldn't see the difference there, take some profit on the stock and get your eyes checked.

Not a troll I have one myself and I could easily live with out, so could most people who buy one. Sure, some companys and business people have found value in using it as a tool but that is a very, very small percentage. So ok, the iPad is mostly, hows that, is mostly a toy for those who buy one, especially for those on this board.

You have absolutely no basis for making these claims.

A number of sites are starting to report that the 3 million ONLY includes iPads sold at Apple retail. So the real number sold is presumably much higher.
