Android apps are just simply terrible.  Freshly downloaded apps frequently crash everyday, it's unbelieveable that the default mail app on Android crashes too.

    "Have you rooted your phone?"

    "No…"

"That's your problem. You call yourself an Android user?"

Why did you go for the 16g rather than the standard 8g?  Is it really worth the extra $$   Really curious.  I am about to purchase one.  Thanks!

He forgot to mention ONE important fact about the Nexus 7. IT WAS DESIGNED AND MADE IN THE U.S.A.. Not China......

    • A bargain at $199 with $25 in free Google Play credit

    • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the quad-core processor are responsive and smooth

    • Small and light enough to be held with one hand

    • The screen is good for its size, but it's no Retina display

    The Bad

    • Android tablet apps are still lacking

    • Apple's rumored "iPad mini" looms on the horizon

Marketing 101...when doing SW analysis, the factors should be internal.  The last one there is obviously a threat.

I find the statement preceding this statement dubious at best.  I would like to see some evidence.

Furthermore, every Apple proponent knows the Nexus 7 will fail:

    • Non-removable battery

    • No Adobe Flash support

    • No HDMI

    • No MicroSDXC

Green.  I practiced it for about 3 years with a self-training group and later had proper instructions only for about a year, and that's when I officially got my cordão.

My family just moved from San Jose where we practiced under Contra Mestre "Giraffe" who trained under Mestre Vaguinho but we only practiced for six months or so before we moved. This was after several other martial arts for my sons and I; however, the first martial art for my wife. Contra Mestre "Giraffe" trained with and is a friend of Lateef Crowder (who played "Eddy Gordo" in the Tekken movie and "Tom-Yum-Goong" in The Protector as well as other roles and stunt work). We miss the Friday night roda at Senzala, the Brazilian restaurant. San Jose seemingly had capoeira demonstrations in public every month (sometimes weekly).

My apologies for derailing the thread.

Interesting note though. Contra Mestre "Giraffe" was formerly employed by Apple for security. So, those suspicions about Apple ninja assassins aren't too far from the mark.

    Hello AI

I've come here via a link on my FB page which alerted me to AppleInsider's review of the Nexus 7.
I was genuinely intrigued and surprised to find such a 'gentle' review but after reading all of the posts in this thread, I felt compelled
To sign up and respond to some of the points raised. Before I start let me tell you I own a Windows PC, an Apple iPhone 4 and the Google Nexus 7.
I am a previous owner of the iPad.

    1. I'd like to offer my personal experience on unboxing the Nexus 7 which was in stark contrast to the 'hilarious' unboxing parody video which pooled clips from several YouTube video reviewers. The quality and texture of the black cardboard box does not lend itself kindly to
High humidity or warmer climes. I had absolutely no problem whatsoever with mine, the outer shroud slid off gracefully and once
The two small stickers were sliced with a sharp knife, the lid compartment lifted with ease. Living in UK has it's benefits :-)

    2. Several comments have been made about lack of a 3G option. Let's be honest here - how many mobile (cell)phone contracts / Sim cards does one need to enjoy connectivity on the move? Wi-Fi is predominantly available in public places and where it isn't, you simply create a personal hotspot from your mobile (cell)phone. Simples. Why would you pay twice for the same connectivity? My iPhone provides a robust and reliable 3G connect ion to my Nexus 7 when on public transport or sitting in the park :-)

    3. No SD Card slot on the Nexus 7 - not a problem, I bought myself an after market USB OTG cable from Amazon for a measly £1.25 and after rooting my device and downloading a free app called Stickmount from Google Play - I can now attach USB keyboards, mice, external card readers and even a powered external hard drive. How much do Apple charge for the various adaptors used for attaching branded peripherals to their iPads?

Ultimately there will soon be as many variety of tablets to choose from as there are breakfast cereals. One is not better than the other. They all fill a niche market where each of us will express a preference. For me personally, a 7 inch device fits more comfortable in the hand, is easier to transport and less valuable to replace or repair if dropped or stolen. With most modern tablets and smart phones costing 100's and 100's of your hard earned cash - I prefer to have the smaller devices on me at all times. This was not practical for ME with tablets 9"-10" in size.

So make your choice, enjoy your lot and let everyone else do the same :-)

There is no doubt that Google Nexus 7 is great. However,Google Nexus 7 also has a few drawbacks, like the storage space is not expandable and only one camera. Why not try Ainol Novo 7 Venus? http://www.jsxltech.com/products/ainol-novo-7-venus-quad-core-cpu-act-atm7029-7-inch-5-point-touch1280x800-ips-screen-mali400-quad-core-gpu-1gb-ddr3-8gb-nand-flash-hdmi-bluetooth-2-1-gps Ainol Novo 7 Venus is a great alternative in my opinion. It is also powered by Quad Core CPU ACT-ATM7029 based on Cortex A9 that runs up to 1.5GHz,it has dual cameras, features the same 7 inch 1280X800 IPS screen as Google Nexus 7. One drawback of Ainol Novo 7 Venus is that it has 8GB Nand Flash, but expandable to 32GB - this is very important and matters,I like this. It's sold at $149.99 only from JSXL Technology. I share this just because I think the more choices of Tablet PCs,the better for us. http://www.jsxltech.com/products/ainol-novo-7-venus-quad-core-cpu-act-atm7029-7-inch-5-point-touch1280x800-ips-screen-mali400-quad-core-gpu-1gb-ddr3-8gb-nand-flash-hdmi-bluetooth-2-1-gps

I bought this Nexus 7 32G at the end of January 2013 via online store and have had it since February 2013. Within about 3 or 4 weeks it became glitch, with apps crashing. But I could live with it because it allowed me to take advantage of the app store. So for months, I actually enjoyed the tablet even though the screen would not fill with pictures all the way or something else would close unexpectedly and the sound was not all that great. However, last week, Tuesday 07/09/2013 the sound stopped altogether. I had already bought a mini speaker to compensate for the poor sound quality. When I plugged that it in, I got sound from the tablet, but that was the only way I could hear anything. I called ASUS support and right away they asked had I dropped it. I had not. I promptly sent it off on the same day, Tuesday, 07/09/2013. Until today, I still haven't heard a word. I called ASUS support myself and was told that they received the tablet yesterday, 07/15/2013 and that I should received a 'repaired' tablet within 7 - 10 days from 07/15/2013 their receipt date. Mind you, they sent me the label to send the tablet back. So now, I haven't had the tablet for a week, and probably won't for another week and will now received a
'refurbished' tablet, not the brand new one I bought last then four months ago. I REGRET THIS PURCHASE and now know I should have spent the money on an IPAD. What a waste! All the other companies that offer tablets have no problem with sending out a new tablet when something like this happens. I know now I should have invested in an IPAD or KINDLE. They know how to treat their customers.

Google first tablet market is Nexus i like this 7, an Asus-made device which has impressed us no-end.The Nexus 7 has been on the market for a while now; it's been almost a year since it launched. Over that time a number of rival tablets have arrived, most of which have arguably been copycat efforts. if you want to know about in details about Nexus 7 its feature and reviews then u can find all information at  here http://tabletvs.net/tablet/GOOGLE-Nexus-7-2013-by-ASUS .
