Motorola: enjoy the brief media exposure you get for your new RAZRs.

Nokia: we like the bright color idea, but good luck surviving through 2013.

Google: good luck earning back the $12.5 billion you spent buying Motorola.

True.  I meant the last design revision though which was late 70's.

re: the article, this is absolutely one of the ugliest phones on the market, in my opinion.  A co-worker of mine bought the original Moto Razr a year or so ago, and I used it for about 5 minutes and it wasn't a great experience.  And that was before I had an iPhone, I was on the OG Moto Droid at the time.

Looks aside, I'm still not impressed. I'd buy a Lumia before buying one of these.

Get your facts straight. The last Volkwagen Beetle (the original, not the "New Beetle") rolled off the assembly line in 2003. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/last-classic-vw-beetle-rolls-off-the-line

Fair enough, my friend.  I'm not too far away, around 7 years to go.  ;-)

What I really love is the fact that the phones already discounted even before being released. That tells me how much people want them. :-)

Well, at least we know Google didn't buy Moto for their designs.

Cherish your youthful eyesight. My up-close vision sucks now. And it really came on very quickly...seemingly overnight!

I love my 4S, but I don't think those Android phones are ugly in the least.

Well, just remember that starting on the 12th, all the media will be talking about will be the newest generation iPhone. :)

True, but they won't be talking about it for long if the only features released are the ones that have been mentioned in the various rumors.

Truly disappointing from a company whose cell phones served me so well for so many years. They should've released one phone designed like one of these.

Worldwide sales of the car shrank by the late 1970s and by 1988, the classic Beetle was sold only in Mexico.

The Volkswagen Beetle was pretty much gone as a major product for at least 10 years before they came out with a fake bug--somewhat reminiscent of the original, but lacking the true spirit of the original design.  Having to special order them from Mexico in violation of modern pollution laws does not count.  His point and premise are still valid.

Calling these new phones 'razr' is a lame attempt to associate them with past branding glory that is long gone.  Not altogether different from today's Polaroid also-ran digital cameras that have nothing to do with Polaroid's fabulous instant photo products of olde.

2013 Beetle actually looks a lot better.

Windows 8 is great and the Lumia is what have me jump ship from the  iphone 4s which is not great at all and iphone 5 is exactly the same soup all over again

Perhaps, but massive sales are better than media coverage, anyway. :)

Is that the front-engine Beetle that's not really a Beetle? :)

Why is every Apple website reporting on this thing? Why do we care?

... just in case he hasn't written the general comment on this article ...
