Firewire chain: Does it matter what order devices connected?

Okay, here's the deal: I have a DV camcorder and 60GB external drive for my Pismo. How does the data stream work in different connection configurations? Would I get faster throughput to the external drive from my camcorder if I connect it directly to the drive, or does that even matter (unlike SCSI, which tended to be very specific)?



Since the Pismo only has one Firewire bus, it wouldn't really matter would it?

    I have not read very much on it but I would guess that it should not matter. i would put the drive to the machine and the camera to the drive if you can do it that way.
