Cable access & OS X

Hi Gang,

Happy New Year!

My problem: I can't connect with my cable ISP in Classic or OS X. The ISP is no help. I've tried to configure Internet Access but no luck. Everything works in OS 9, but it would be nice to not have to switch to it.

Any ideas? Thanks,

    Are you asking for more details or are those the settings I should use? I'll try them anyway and get back to you.

    I was asking for Details.



    You could post a screen shot of your MacOs TCP/IP control panel, that would make it easier to tell you how to configure the MacOSX one.

    IN OS X my Cable connection was automatically recongnized.

    OK, AllInOne. I made screen shot of my TCP/IP panel, but I don't know how to post it.

    In OS X click on Network.



    Show: "Built in Ethernet"

    In the TCP/IP tab, select configure: "using DHCP".



    Nothing should be checked in PPPoE, AppleTalk, or Proxies.



    It should look somewhat like the NetworkSettings.jpg available here:

    If that doesn't do it, something is wrong with your modem or your service (or your ethernet card). And your Cable company needs to get on the ball.

    Thanks, Seb. That did it. I connected first time last night. Even OS X's IE works with the cable. I'll try Mail as soon as my cable ISP works out thier e-mail problem.
