Can I make my StyleWriter work with Mac OS X?

I have an Apple StyleWriter 2200 and am looking at solutions to make it work under Mac OS X v.10.1.2, so far what I have looked into is a LocalTalk to Ethernet adapter to connect it to my LAN [most preferable] and a Serial to USB adapter [to make it work with my Pismo].

I have also been told that there may be no Mac OS X support for StyleWriters such as mine, anyone have any experience making LocalTalk only printers work with Mac OS X?

Thanks in advance.

I don't know if ghostscript can do it for you. Ghostscript rips postscript files to the native printing commands of the printer.

I am told it might, does it happen in terminal or will it print from the GUI? I know little of ghost script.

Um? Well you set it up like an LPR printer. You set up the command to rip it through GS and then pipe it to the printer through the "raw" que.

I guess the StyleWriter can't take a PS file on it's own right? Humm? Someone must know more about doing this than me?

I may have an old version but I don't see the stylewriter as supported. Here's the "printers" my gs says it can do.

Sigh, hmm, well, looks like that may not be the solution I need.

Anyone know if you can hack a Canon bubble jet driver to work a stylewriter in X?

Here read this. My version is old. I need it to rip to a phaser printer now too.

I shall, thanks for all the help Scott. I don't know anything about Canon print support, just thinking that since they made the StyleWriters for Apple and some of their printers are obviously supported then there must be a way of hacking that driver also.

I just search google for "stylewriter ghostscript" and found this.

There were tons of other ones so you may want to repeat the search.

I will check this out over the weekend and see if it sounds like it will work.
