Misinterpreting GPS data is not the same as you saying the GPS is misreporting. You are saying the GPS is the issue, not the app that needs to parse the GPS data.
Yeah okay, I see what you mean. For a minute there I thought you were just being pedantic, but you're right, my wording confused the issue.
FWIW I'm not among those who hate Apple Maps. I really like the vector rendering and caching. I just don't understand how some people can be so staunchly entrenched in positions that are either utterly dismissive or blindly zealous. My feeling is that it's a good tool with some genuine benefits, but it still has some flaws that need to be ironed out.

Actually you can set Google Maps as the default even tho Apple themselves don't offer that option. Some number of iOS users already have done so.
