My iMac, bought last summer, came with OS 9.2.1. Someone told me that I may have OSX loaded as well and just need to boot up differently to access it. Is this true, or do I need to pull out my OSX CD and install? Thx.

Depends on which model you got. Go to your control panel, choose startup disk, and look for an X folder. If it's there, select it and restart.
