Ok, here is the deal I would like to change my MAC HD icon. What is a good piece of software to do this or can some one point me to a site that would show me what I need to do in my terminal to change it.

Thanks.

You don't need special software to change your icons. You probably will need special software to make new icons. If you want a good site for premade custom icons, goto <a href="http://www.xicons.com."; target="_blank">www.xicons.com.

Once you have the icons files, changing the icons is dead easy. Select the item that has the icon you want. Use get info (command-i I think). click on the icon in the geti-info box and 'copy' the icon (command-c I think), then get info on the item you want changed, in this case the harddrive. click on it's icon in the get-info box and then paste (comand-p)..that's it, you are done.

By the way, there's a bug in the current Finder where the hard drive icon may disappear if you paste something over it. Simply logout and back in or just relaunch the Finder to force it to refresh properly.

Here's a brief tutorial movie (only 450 KB) I made a couple months ago to show how to change icons:

and this movie (600 KB) shows the bug where you sometimes need to relaunch the Finder:

Heh, forgot about that bug. had it happen when I first changed icons...that's sort of scary when your icons just vanish.
