Error -36 when attempting to import video into iMovie 3

My brother has been doing some simple video capture using an old PowerMac 7500AV, and now he wants to import the raw video onto his Blue & White G4 for editing. However, he gets an error -36 when trying to import the video in iMovie 3. He has the latest update installed but it didn't fix anything. Does anyone know what the problem is?
