But will 5c be 4g LTE capable?

I'd put money on it having the "world phone" chip that has been talked about.

I don't know much about it, but If what I've picked up is right, then I can see that being a huge production/inventory management advantage.

Ah, nope...the 5C will not be announced Tuesday, but Wednesday at apple's special event in China.

It doesn't make sense in any way at all to limit sales of the 5C to one (albeit very big) country when worldwide sales are likely to be huge too.

And being a American company with an interest in not pissing off the rest of the world, then to give special treatment to one country is unlikely.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro offered higher performance than Apple's A6 before the iPhone 5 was even released.  The Snapdragon S4 Pro also came integrated with some of the best LTE support in the world at the time of release (support for the 2600mhz band).  It was also the first SoC to be released with a GPU that can support OpenGL ES 3.0.

The Snapdragon 600 improves on the performance of the S4 Pro in just about every manner, it was also one of the first SoCs to pass Khronos Group's conformance testing for OpenGL ES 3.0.

Snapdragon 800 is the first SoC to offer LTE-Advanced support, it has support for always listening features without having to use a high powered core.  It is the most powerful SoC on the market.

Isn't that thing about BOMs nothing more than bullshit?...
I think it this bullshit can serve as a hint to understanding what parts are involved and what parts are high- and low cost, and once it hits mass production what parts could be expected to be made cheaper to keep the revenue regardless of lowering the retail price tag.

The iPhone 5 works in China. The page you are linking to only concerns LTE.

And the event in China will just be a replay of the US one: http://allthingsd.com/20130904/apple-will-hold-satellite-iphone-events-in-beijing-berlin-and-tokyo/

A faster processor does not make a faster phone. There's lot of variables.

A faster processor not always is a better processor (core vs core, battery drain, heat, cost, etc).

As UI speed is concerned, the iPhone is by far the fastest smartphone. Core vs Core, the a6 is a monster, not to mention it also has a lower impact on battery drain. All things considered, the a6 still is the best processor available.

The 5C will be much easier and cheaper to assemble than the 4S and 5.

Plus Apple will be taking a higher share. Their current problem is that many still buys 4 and 4S, and they have a relatively low margin.

Using synthetic benchmarks. When you look at actual phone performance, the iPhone cleans up - AND, it uses far less power.

My point is, those numbers should never be used to any sort of sirious discussion on any circunstance. They are totally irrelevant and mean nothing.

Say what? So, the cost of making an iPhone has no relevance in discussions about the minimum prices it can sell for?

The iPhone is much more expensive to build than any other smartphone, like the s4, for example.

Ummm... 10 second search on google:
    http://bgr.com/2013/05/09/samsung-galaxy-s4-teardown-bom/
(Article title: Cheap’ isn’t always cheap – Galaxy S4 costs more to build than iPhone 5)

Sure, R&D etc have to be factored in, but you seem to be going to an extreme here.

They do not have their OS. Their best processor is designed by qualcomm, the build quality is a joke, the screen is crap, 0 battery optimization, they never dreamed of a smartphone, not to mention set the fundations for it, ecosystem, etc. A phone like that should cost less than half of the iPhone, no matter how you look at it.

To be honest, your rant above makes it look like you're just chucking statements out there as if you're fishing for replies to argue against you... :o)

The Nexus 4 with 4.3 is faster than the iPhone 5, and if you're looking at real world performance, the PowerVR 5 series inside Apple's A6 doesn't even offer OpenGL ES 3.0 support (something the Adreno 320 does).  Not exactly a fair comparison when the iPhone is using a GLES version from ~4 years ago.

Again, my original post was in defence of Qualcomm's hardware.

Many Android OEMs such as Samsung add a skin over android which becomes dead weight.  If anyone is going down the Android route, the best option is a Nexus or vanilla Android device (of course there is rooting and such, but that's not for everyone).

Again, I was discussing the actual hardware.  There are a lot of variables, but Qualcomm's "off the shelf" components does it better than Apple.

As I was just saying to another user, Android 4.3 on the Nexus 4 is faster than the iPhone and offers API support (both hardware and software) that might not even come to iOS 7.
