New iMacs - Old VESA mounts still compatible?

I intend to VESA-mount a new iMac, but would like to retain the stand for future resale value. Apple still offers the old VESA adapter hardware, but does not list the new model in the list of compatible models. Can anyone confirm (or is is safe to assume) that it is still compatible? I'm fairly confident the hardware dimensions and construction have not changed since the 2012 model, so I'm inclined to believe they remain compatible and the same installation procedure should apply.

You need to buy a special version of the new model:

I'm aware of the separate VESA-preinstalled models, but without a stand this will (I believe) severely cripple my resale value.

I am in the position currently that you are looking to avoid in the future.  I no longer can use a desk or wall mount and need to convert to basic stand.  Thanks for your post, hope both of us can get a favorable reply from someone.
