I have a friend who's a cripple. He's lying flat on his ass basking in the glory of his past...

And I'm yeling "get the hell up and walk!"

The upcoming iPad 5 will blow the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition out of the water.

iPad 1 was proof of concept! Damn, what's your problem?

Yes, it's limited... Mine is topped out at iOS 5. Apps I can't use from my iPhone5 and iPadMini.

Otherwise perfectly fine for browsing the internet/reading articles, reading iBooks and using Pages, etc.

IPad 1 was not slow in its own right, and only seems slow now when run side by side with newer iPads.

We still use our iPad 1 daily. Works great for email and surfing.

Yes, it's even worse on the Verge article.

"But if Motorola continues to slide, Google may eventually be forced to write down the cost of the $12.5 billion acquisition — and its investors could clamor for the company to scuttle what has so far been a painful experiment into the world of mobile hardware. Looking at the purchase I’m still scratching my head about why they did it,” says Avi Greengart, the research director for consumer devices at Current Analysis, “and how they see it playing out going forward.”"

Sly, or Evil.. it's just a wet dream of WSJ writers who seem to worship all things the big G did even it's a clear failure.

If the iPad 5 has specs >= the iPhone 5s, it will be a winner.

The graphics on the 5s are amazing. If they make it even faster (for the bigger screen), clock the processor a bit faster (more room for cooling) and maybe go from 1GB to 2GB RAM, the iPad 5 will laugh in the general direction of any other tablet.

Intel Bay Trail Z3770 + Windows 8.1 tablets are $499 or less.

The Bay Trail devices might not have the same graphics performance as the A7X, but the software and API support of a complete version of x86 Windows can eclipse anything iOS can offer.  You can run software from AutoCAD to Foobar2000 to Photoshop to Steam and games like Half Life 2 or Starcraft 2.  USB3.0 support allows you to connect and utilize any USB device at high speeds. Potential for an active digitizer can make navigation of the UI for advanced programs or note taking a breeze.

Not really sure what Apple can do with an A7X + iOS 7 to better that.

Do you mean besides not using HALF of available storage to run the OS?

The consumers are more important than the investors. The consumers have put over 145 billion into Apple's pocket. What have the investors done that can compare? Ok, the investors put up the initial seed money but at the end of the day the consumer is the real investor and they aren't trying to short the f****** stock!

Know what it's great for? I have a 64 gb one. Load it up with movies for the 2-3 round trip car trips we do each year (about 15 hours each way, each).

Of course, I have since picked up a Seagate Wireless Pro (1 TB), but the original iPad keeps on ticking.
