For some odd reason, IE under 10.1 isn't able to display the PNG desktop shots linked above, even though it has no trouble displaying PNG graphics inline. IE makes me download the PNG files and opens them in Preview.app. Any clues or tips?

IE sucks at displaying PNGS. MS needs to get on the ball.

They sure are. I wish I could capture cursors in screenshots, having alpha blended cursors can make for some cool effects.

BTW: That translucent edit plus window was just for fun, I don't leave it like that. I'm not sure how much I like being able to see through windows.

This is my OS 9.2.1 desktop. A model posing on the top of Notre Dame in Paris...unbelievable shot! Also I'm using Title Free on my icons...cool <a href="http://www.geocities.com/launay_soft"; target="_blank">freeware</a> that removes titles underneath icons.

artman.. where'd you get that shot?

and... is it available in 1152x (768 would be best)?

Mac Guru, is that an iceBook? Is anyone out there using a TiBook and X? I'd like to see a pic if possible.

Yes it is an iBook. X runs flawlessly on it.

    Ducky:

    1) Where did you get those icons and what do you use to change them?

    2) What is that nice little mp3 app in the taskbar?

What I want to know is how you all do those neato-keen thumbnails....

    Here's the desktop on my <a href="http://www.sevensquareinches.com/madesktop.jpg"; target="_blank">iBook</a>.

That's from yesterday, and a lot has changed since then. About 10 more icons on the desktop and I just switched the desktop picture.

The icons were created by a guy on the <a href="http://www.neowin.net"; target="_blank">Neowin.net</a> forums. He took them from OSX.

    <a href="http://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.php?threadid=4759"; target="_blank">Icons here</a>

You can install the trial version of <a href="http://www.impactsoft.com/muangelo/v55/index.htm"; target="_blank">Microangelo</a> and it gives you a nice option in the contextual menu to change *any* icon.

The MP3 app is the <a href="http://www.neowin.net/bboard/showthread.php?s=96cec7f5b0d0b49a3bd728f20f51d565&; threadid=4765&perpage=15&pagenumber=2" target="_blank">Shell Audio Player</a> that was in the beta versions of MS Power Toys, but removed from the final. It's a bit buggy (it cuts off the song title like you see in my screenshot), but it's quite nice.

There are instructions on the same forum for emulating the controls using Winamp, butI like this version.
