""As a designer, there's an issue of dignity. (The Galaxy) is original from the beginning, and I'm the one who made it," Lee said in 2012"

That's funny - I thought they said it was just a rounded rectangle.

Sacked?? According to the source article they didn't fire him.

"Chang Dong-hoon offered to resign last week and will be replaced by Lee Min-hyouk, vice president for mobile design, a Samsung spokeswoman said on Thursday...
Chang, a former professor who studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, will continue to lead Samsung's design center espionage unit which overseas its overall design strategy."

There fixed it for you. :D

They are clueless when it comes to industrial design. Until Apple does another paradigm shift they have no idea what's next. Keep adding features is what future means to them.

Seems more like a promotion than a sack - why not fix the headline?
How is having one of your titles and most visible responsibilities striped a promotion.  He already had the other title but was replace as the designer of the product that they clearly thinking is most important with the crazy money they spent on trying to stupefy the American public. Its a sack.  They just need him to keep up the lies in the courtrooms.  A pissed off ex employee just wouldn't work out for them.

Follow the money ... e.g., Being head of Chevrolet [Division] is worth more, and pays more, than being head of Cadiddliac [Division].

I guess Samsung's "Next Big Thing" didn't turn out to be that "Big" after all.

No, but the fact that they choose that naming convention speaks volumes to their desire to copy the iPhone at every turn.

    From the dictionary in Mavericks:

3 (the sack) informal dismissal from employment:

He hasn't been dismissed from employment at all, so AI are lying by stating something as fact, which isn't.

Surely, you've worked in a corporation before? If so, you know what the phrase "...offered to resign..." means?!

It's the other corporate variant of the classic "...for personal reasons...".

yeah he is going on to design ships and washing machine for Samsung.

The problem is the fact the Samsung force him to come out with designs faster than apple was so not to appear they were copying anymore, since he had nothing to copy from he failed since a copier can not copy anything if it not on the glass to to copy.

"Design Thief" more like it. ShameSung feels the heat. Is it a coincidence that apple calls their iPhone "5S" and shamesung flips the letters around and makes it into S5, their phone.

Agreed not just misleading headline, factually incorrect. "Sacked" means fired. He is not fired at all, if anything it does sound like a promotion.

have to agree, but no one really get fired from Samsung, unless they get arrested by their government but I suspect they are still on the payroll even while in jail.

But who will know when to buy the toner for the photocopiers?

    Sammie should rethink this.

"Thursday's move comes after a number of publications criticized the S5's construction. The Wall Street Journal said the Galaxy S5's textured back was reminiscent of a Band-Aid, while the International Business Times led with the headline "Samsung Galaxy S5: Looks Cheap, Feels Cheap."
    "

Ouch, the WSJ picked up on the bandaid theme?

It must be a promotion as a reward for making the S5 such an awesome industrial design object.

It's all about recovery from a failure phone.  Change the leadership, promote the slow selling product and move on.

Didn't Samsung say in court their phones were not as good as the iPhone?
